Hot Chocolate (the best recipe in the world!)

Here is a recipe for hot chocolate that will set the perfect mood for your Christmas Eve doings.

For one serving, blend in one mug a spoonful of King Arthur cocoa mix*, a spoonful of plain white sugar, a splash of vanilla extract, a pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of ground cloves. Boil a cup of water on the stove, then pour over the dry mixture and blend. Scatter some marshmallows over the top and drink piping hot. :-D

*You can also substitute a spoonful of powdered cocoa mix and two spoonfuls of sugar, or sweeten to taste.

This spin on hot chocolate is delicious with hot cookies! I hope you all enjoy your Christmas and that God blesses your new year.

Goodness...

I don't think its my day to post or anything, but its been awfully quiet over here! And I haven't been around for quite some time! I want to thank Emma for covering for me! Christmas is drawing near, and my family always love making cookies, sittings by fires with Hot Chocolate and listening to Christmas music. I love this time of year when you can curl up in a blanket on the couch, read a book and drink something hot. Christmas music playing in the background is always lovely, I enjoy it immensely! What are some of your favourite Christmas songs? I recently came across a new one (For me, I had never heard of it before) The little Drummer boy. I really like that song. I've found several different version's of it, but my two favourite versions are Jar's of Clay version and Celtic Woman's version.

Little Drummer Boy

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

What are some of your favourite Christmas songs? And what do you enjoy doing on a cold winter's day?

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!

God bless!

Buttermints

My apologies for not posting on Saturday. Here is a recipe that I made yesterday that I really like.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Buttermints:
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick or 4 ounces) butter, at room temperature
  • 2 Tablespoons cream
  • 4 to 5 drops of peppermint extract
  • 3 drops of food coloring
  • 4 cups (1 pound box) unsifted confectioners’ powdered sugar (10X)
Preparation
Place butter, cream, peppermint extract, and food coloring in a large bowl. Beat until well-combined.
Add confectioners’ sugar, one cup at a time, beating on high speed until combined.
Knead the sugar dough, as you would knead bread dough, until smooth.
Roll pieces of the sugar dough into long ropes about ½-inch in diameter. Using a sharp knife, cut into 1-inch pieces and place on baking sheets. Cover loosely with paper towels and place in a cold oven overnight to dry and harden.
(Note: These are very rich and sweet mints!)
People Puppy Chow
Hey ya'll! First of all, let me say, I'm very sorry for being late in posting. I was sick on Monday, so I was unable to post. =P
A little side note, Monday was Emma, my youngest sister's, 13th birthday! =)
Now for the real post. Here is a recipe my family just loves to make.
People Puppy Chow
1 box Chex cereal (corn or wheat)
1 stick butter
1 c. smooth peanut butter
1 (12 oz.) bag chocolate chips
1 box powdered sugar
Melt butter, chocolate, and peanut butter. Pour melted mixture over Chex cereal and stir carefully until all of it is covered. Sprinkle the entire box of powdered sugar over everything and stir again. Freeze and enjoy!
Golden Grahams will also work for this recipe in replacement of the Chex. I hope you will enjoy it!
Soli Deo Gloria!
